Frequency Launches New Fusion Service for Streaming Television Channel Workflows at IBC
- New Fusion service provides unparalleled playout automation by combining traditional broadcast workflows with Frequency’s award winning channel creation and distribution platform
- New Program Templates intelligent automation service reduces time to schedule channels by up to 95 percent
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 4, 2024) - Frequency, the engine behind many of the world’s best-known streaming television channels, has extended its industry-leading Studio platform with the launch of its new Fusion service at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam (Hall 4.B11).
Frequency’s Fusion service - part of the Studio suite - brings together the best of traditional channel creation technologies and workflows, with the world’s leading cloud-based channel creation and distribution platform. Create once, reprogram, extend and enhance in the cloud, and distribute anywhere. Over 200 of the world’s leading FAST, (v)MVPD and OTT platforms are already integrated with Frequency Studio.
Channel creators can now dramatically simplify their channel creation workflows, and effortlessly expand their distribution and monetization through Frequency Studio. Existing channels can be connected to Studio, modified through intelligent automation, and delivered anywhere. Override individual programs or entire schedule blocks, combine any number of sources - including sporting events, and live or breaking news - and manage everything from a simple browser based toolset.
“Traditional TV, FAST and OTT are now all aspects of the same universe of ‘Streaming Television.’ Frequency is committed to empowering our content partners and platform operators to leverage their existing infrastructure and workflows, while enjoying the economics, speed, reach and new monetization opportunities that our cloud-native Studio platform provides,” said Frequency CEO and Founder Blair Harrison. “Fusion lets our partners transform broadcast schedules into dynamic new channels without impacting upstream operations.”
Frequency is also announcing its support of external scheduling integrations such as the Broadcast Exchange Format (BXF), making it simple for traditional broadcasters to use Studio for cloud playout and to distribute their channels to a streaming television audience.
“We’ve been listening to our partners about external scheduling workflows, and we’re thrilled to fulfill this need for the market,” said Jon Cohen, Chief Revenue Officer of Frequency. “Addressing speed-to-market in the streaming television space is critical, and Frequency is now uniquely positioned to enable broadcasters and rights holders to marry their existing workflows with Frequency’s powerful cloud playout solutions.”
During IBC, Frequency will also feature its Program Templates architecture, which can reduce schedule creation time by up to 95 percent through automation, intelligence and business logic. The Program Templates’ reprogramming feature will be on display supporting use cases such as dynamic advertising load changes, automated interstitial updates, and on-the-fly timing adjustments.
