At about 10:30, Chan-Hom was about 95 kilometers away from Xiangshan County in Ningbo, with the wind speed at the center up to a maximum of 50.9 meters per second. It is moving northwestward at a speed up to 15 kilometers per hour and will bring heavy rain to Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Fujian, and Taiwan. Strong wind and heavy rain swept Xiangshan's Shipu Harbor Friday morning, cutting power and disrupting traffic. Local authorities have deployed electricians to restore power and policemen to patrol around the affected area. More than 960,400 people had been evacuated in Zhejiang Province in anticipation of the typhoon as of 08:00 Friday. Nearly 29,000 ships had also been recalled to port as of 10:00. Several cities in the province have reported heavy rain and strong gales, according to Zhejiang provincial flood, typhoon and drought authorities. Another typhoon, Linfa, made landfall on Thursday in the southern province of Guangdong, bringing torrential rain to the coast. No casualties have been reported. ******************** This video news is provided by CCTV+ and is available for licensing.
