"How Would Jesus Drive?" by @Kaala ► Join the 3MM Community Now at http://3MinuteMessage.com ==================== Our attitudes while driving are an excellent indicator of the overall health of our attitude in general. Think about it. Have you ever had some one cut you off on the road? Ever tried to get into the next lane and no one let you in? Ever been stuck in traffic and late for a meeting? Ever had people tailgating you and honking their horn in anger at you? Now, I don't have one of those fancy new cars that talks to you, shuts off at stop lights, or parallel parks for you. Uh, uh. Mine is one of those old fashioned ones you have to drive yourself. Remember those? One thing my truck does have that I don't think many others do is an indicator that checks just one thing before I leave. It's not my oil or gas or, shucks- what else is there to check? I'm not good with cars!? It's none of those things. Nuh, uh. This indicator light comes on and prompts me to check... My attitude. Yup. No joke. There's a light, on my dashboard, that goes on and says "AT Check." it doesn't go on all the time but when it does I check it. Recently, as I was driving up to an intersection, the light switched to yellow. I have been known to occasionally cut it pretty close --echhkk-- but this one I was pretty far back so I slowed and stopped at the light. As I did the person behind me honked their horn at me so I looked in my mirror to see what may be amiss. I saw them gesticulating wildly and waving their arms at me! So, figuring they must know me and be excited to see me I waved back and said, "Have a great day!" What a Jesus-like attitude! And so not how it happened. The driver behind me DID act like that but I certainly didn't. My first response was to get defensive and argue my case. I'm talking out loud to them as if they can hear me explaining my case for why I stopped at the yellow light. Distance times speed times rate of acceleration... It's a microcosm of what happens not just in our cars, but in our homes, our workplaces or at school. Our responses reflect our attitudes. The bible says that we are supposed to have the same attitude as Jesus. It says: "If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love... be like-minded, having the same love." It says, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." Can you imagine what our driving would look like if we are were to - Drive unselfishly. - Drive with humility. - Drive with the other person's interest in mind?? Wild! What would your marriage look like, your relationships, your office or your home if you were to have this same attitude as Christ and consider others as more important than yourselves? What would it look like? There's a lot of reference to how we think in this passage probably because how we think affects how we act. If can be like-minded with Christ we can be like-acting. Let the the Holy Spirit be your Attitude Checker. Ask God to help you be more aware of how you think, how you drive and how you live. ==================== Subscribe on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=threeminutemessage Like Us on Facebook: http://facebook.com/3MinuteMessage Follow Us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/3MinuteMessage and http://twitter.com/kaala G+ Us: http://gplus.to/3minutemessage Subscribe to the Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-3-minute-message/id682224076?mt=2
