Description

This is my first video I made to answer a few questions about my classic Slingerland Buddy Rich drumset that I use on my Big Band. This set I bought new in 1976 is still the best sounding set of drums that I own. It has the 14x24 bass drum,9x13 tom,two 16x16 floor toms and the 5x14 TDR Buddy Rich model snare with the straight edge hoops. As you can hear in the video, this snare has a very crisp sound to it and will respond to every little touch that you play on. No way to hide your playing on this snare drum. I use smooth white ambassador on all the toms, top and bottom. This set has a very wide open sound and great tone which I love. Of course this is the classic Marine Pearl which Slingerland made famous.Still looks new. This is my workout on these drums which are always so much fun to play. It`s important to find a set of drums that makes you want to play. Now that I`m in my late 50`s,it`s important to have the right technique so you don`t feel worn out after playing a long gig. A drum can only play so loud,so I don`t want to waste energy by using a lot of arms. I play relaxed and use my technique to play whats in my mind. If you have any questions about what I played in this workout, I will see if I can help you out. To see me playing in my Big Band or other groups,I have lots of videos for you to check out. Ken Loomer
