Description

"Critical Pedagogy, Organic Writing, and the Changing Nature of Scholarship." Using critical pedagogy as the foundation for their work in hybrid and fully-digital environments, Jesse Stommel (Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities at University of Wisconsin-Madison;@Jessifer) and Pete Rorabaugh (Assistant Professor of English in the English, Technical Communication, and Media Arts Department at Southern Polytechnic State University;@allistelling) explore how academic writing and scholarship are changing from within and without. Pete discusses the practice of Organic Writing and how the affordances of digital environments allow us to explore how to teach writing as a creative and critical thinking process. Jesse focuses on the ways that new-form multimodal scholarship upsets the distinction between academic writing and public outreach.
