Wab Kinew is a one of- a-kind talent. He was named by the Postmedia News as one of the “9 Aboriginal movers and shakers you should know”. In 2012, he hosted the highly acclaimed CBC Television series “8th Fire”, which examined the unique and contemporary lives of Aboriginal people from across Canada. As a hip-hop artist, Wab won an Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award in 2009. His journalism has won him an Adrienne Clarkson RTNDA Award and a Gabriel Award. He has also been nominated for a Gemini Award, which recognizes the talent and achievements of those in Canada’s television industry. Wab exemplifies what it means to be multicultural in Canada today, holding both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and training in the traditional Medicine ways of his Anishinaabe people. Currently Wab is the Director of Indigenous Inclusion at the University of Winnipeg.
