Description

Every third child in India is not immunized or partially immunized, being at risk of diseases, disability and death. In order to reach all children with available life-saving vaccines, The Ministry of Health, Government of India has launched its flagship programme - Mission Indradhanush. Under this path-breaking scheme, the government with its partners such as UNICEF, UNDP, ITSU, WHO, etc. aim to achieve full immunization coverage for all children in the country by 2020, protecting them against seven vaccine preventable diseases, which include diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B. ASHA workers (Accredited Social Health Activists) are an integral part and critical link in the health delivery system improving the health of women and children. This video salutes their work and contributions along with others viz. ANMs, doctors, Civil Society members, Community Influencers - who are all contributing to ensure that each child in the country receives life-saving vaccines to ensure a brighter, healthier future. This video encourages all parents to take the responsibility of ensuring their children complete the immunisation cycle and are protected against seven deadly vaccine preventable diseases. This UNICEF video is a call to all parents to join hands with us in making the Routine Immunisation movement a grand success with the tagline "Ek kadam hum chalein ek kadam aap badhaiye. Bachhon ko swastha aur desh ko khushhaal banaiye" (We are taking the first step. You take the next one and join us to make our children healthy and the nation prosperous).
