Description

Advanced class and workshop, Thursday, 10:30, @yttp2 Pose = frame, body = canvas, mind = paint, breath = brush. Thanks for that, BKS Iyengar. A canvas stretched mindfully over a frame will hold paint for ages. So the poses are our tools and like any good tool, the application is up to you. You can hammer your thumb in a big rush or take your time and get everything in the right place. As a teacher and a student, what is the therapy you wish to apply in each pose? The poses themselves are empty until they are filled with the healing potential of each individual body. The pose is not the object - the practitioner is. Yogi dandasana is a great example of how breath and pragmatism apply in yoga practice. Instead of trying to crank your way into the pose, build from double pigeon or fire log pose. Flex both feet, hollow your stomach like #uddiyanabhanda , lengthen the side of your body tremendously, breath into the pocket of your hip and the line from your lower lats to your low back. My back muscles are pretty overdeveloped from sports and lifting so you can really see the stretch. Simply, once you can comfortably lengthen enough to get your foot in your armpit in double pigeon, then it's time to explore #yogidandasana . You're better off with ten calm breaths in than jerking and spasming your way into something you perceive to be deeper. Be still. Meditate. Jerking your body around is like sending email in a rush with a bunch of obvious errors - you can take the time, be better and truly connect to what you are doing. #yoga #luxlife #luxyoga #yogadude #hips #stretch #pigeon #yogaeverydamnday #yogavideo #asana #flexible #fit #tattoos #fitness #homepractice #om
