Description
Al Kuwari winner of the fifth round of QNRRCH The winner of the fifth round of Qatar National Road Racing Championship, Ahmad Ghaith Al Kuwari, who got the pole position yesterday, lead all the race from the start to the finish line and gave no chance to the other competitors to win the race. The Qatari driver made a total time of 24:00.938 with his Mitsubishi EVOX and he managed to end the race with a gap of 10.363 with the second classified, Abdulaziz Abdulla. 'In the beginning of the race, in the start, four cars passed me easily but I think it goes for my experience that I managed to keep the lead and win the race. I saw in the corners that they were little bit slower so I took that advantage in the corners, I pushed to the maximum there and just drive very slowly in the straight line but keep pushing inside' Al Kuwari said at the end of the race. Abdulla, with a Porsche Carrera, started in the fourth place in the grid but in the first lap he overtook Al Aseiri and Nedobity and kept the second place until the end. Abdulla said at the end of the podium that it was a very tough race today as the competitors are very close between each others and he tried his best to finished in the podium and hopefully he hopes to win the next round as he will do some adjustments in his car. The third place in the Open class was for Mohammed Nasser Al Aseiri also from Qatar driving a Porsche GT3, who said that he had some problems with his tyres and hopes to do it better in the next round with new tyres. Talal Wehbe and Pavel Nedobity finished in fourth and fifth place respectively. Abdulaziz Abdulla is leading the standings with 36 points and with 3 points less, Talal Wehbe is in second place. Mohammed Al Aseiri is in third place with 21 points. In the Production class, the winner was Saif Al Naimi with a Suzuki Swift who had a tought battle with David Walker and Rhodelin Senga. 'The race was very difficult, I cannot believe I finished in first position because the drivers that won yesterday were very fast but today it was my day as some of them broke down. I want to thank my team, friends and all Losail circuit and QMMF for the great job' Al Naimi stated at the end of the race. David Walker ended in the second place in his category and Rhodelin Senga had a problem in the last lap and couldn't finish the race. The third place was for the Canadian driver Peter de Vido. The leader of the Production class, Nasser Sheghail Abdulla with 20 points had a problem his car in the warm up lap and couldn't start the race. Saif Al Naimi is in second position with 18 points and David Walker is third with 16 points. Trophies were given by Mr. Sultan Al Morraikhi, QMMF Board Member. The next round will be on 7th and 8th June.
