Description

All the music on this channel was created with Fruity Loops and Magix Music Maker Ultimate. The opening track on the Mothers of Invention's first LP, "Hungry Freaks, Daddy" clearly announced the bands social message through a contagious pop song. Even though Mister America [tries] to hide the emptiness which resides in him and attempts to protect himself from the degenerated young generation, he will not forestall the rising tide of hungry freaks. The song is driven by a bass riff and features vibraphone, kazoos, and off-key back vocals, along with a guitar solo. Everything was there to disgust radio programmers and alarm parents. The song had a relatively short life: it remained intermittently in the Mothers' (and later Zappa's) set list from 1966 to 1974 (a rendition by this latter version of Zappa's band can be heard on the official bootleg Unmitigated Audacity) and then vanished. It was resurrected for the tribute project Zappa's Universe. Song Review by François Couture
