Description

This is a video from dress rehearsal of Des Nuages at the Lobero Theater for the Santa Barbara Dance Alliance's production of Synergy. Cybil Gilbertson is spinning on the ground and Livia Mezei is spinning in air. Dick Dunlap composed the magical score. I choreographed the modern dance for Cybil while Ninette Paloma created the aerials for Livia. It was a lot of fun collaborating at Santa Barbara Aerial Arts. It was a little like being at a very French circus camp. For one memorable rehearsal, we had an audience of aerialists watching Cybil from near the ceiling on their various perches. The projected film is a version of Blue Meadow that Catherine Bennett and I created for an installation at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
