Heres what youll need to replace a door lock: •A multi-bit screw driver •Hammer •3pc chisel set •White rubber mallet •and the new door lock set First remove the old lock set. Unscrew the handles and the latch chassis and remove them. Next prepare the new lock set. If there are optional latch faceplates select the one that fits your door. Test fit the latch chassis in the door. You may need to chisel the latch mortise to fit the new lock. Make sure the beveled part of the latch faces the jamb. Tap the lock chassis in place with a hammer and a small block of wood. Insert and tighten down the screws Next take the exterior handle and pass the spindle through the lock chassis. Check the manufacturers instructions to see that its oriented correctly. Take the inside handle and ensure that the holes line up and press it into place. Insert the screws and tighten. Check that the new strike plate will fit. If not mark the jamb and chisel out the jamb to fit. Attach the new strike plate with the included screws. Close and test the lock mechanism.
