NOTS 23: CRYSTAL was inspired by the classic BUCKINGHAM NICKS (and later, FLEETWOOD MAC) song, and its themes of water and sea. Imagined in the wake of HURRICANE SANDY, the show included aquatic Stevie references from STORMS to BLUE WATER. This marathon edition, attended by over 1000 fans, featured sixty-odd performers in 21 show segments. Highlights included THE HO-HOs (CATHY CERVENKA and JILL PANGALLO), POISON EVE and DARLINDA JUST DARLINDA, JAZMEN FLOWERS (MISSISSIPPI), AMBER MARTIN, VANGELINE THEATER, MACHINE DAZZLE and DARRELL THORNE of THE PIXIE HARLOTS, THE RACHEL KLEIN THEATER and seven stunning debuts including DESERT SIN, who presented the evening's opening mermaid ballet. Born in 1991 at the tiny performance venue MOTHER, "The Night" is now in its 23nd year, even inspiring the 2001 film GYPSY 83. Neither a contest nor a karaoke show, NOTS is the Stevie celebration ne plus ultra - a riot of shawls, lace, baby's breath, twirling, tambourines and great performance. It ends with the iconic "Battle of a Thousand Stevies", where all of the shows performers and Stevie-adorned guests take to the stage in an Enchanted group rendition of "Edge of Seventeen".
