Description

CRIOS (Calving Rates and Impact on Sea Level) is a research collaboration project between the University Centre in Svalbard and the University of Edinburgh, School of GeoSciences. This film shows research done on Kronebreen, a fast-flowing timewater glacier in Svalbard. Cameras are set up to take pictures every 30 minutes to monitor glacier movement and ice calving behaviour. This will help understand how calving mechanisms control glacier stability. See the timelapse from the cameras here: http://youtu.be/Llod4k01DCY
