Description

Dorothy was a longtime member of Communication Workers of America Local 6016 and an active Oklahoma AFL-CIO Executive Board member. When she retired from Southwestern Bell some 10 years ago, she bought her retirement home. Dorothy then went to work at the State Senate as a switchboard operator, a perfect fit for her. Shortly thereafter, her only son moved in with her to try to battle his illness, alcoholism. Over the years her house fell into disrepair and her son succumbed to his illness and passed away in the summer of 2012. When members of her church went to her home they found her heating and air not working, two drip pans under the sink, a broken toilet, and many other problems. So someone had to do something.
