Description

Prominent Bahraini rights activist Nabeel Rajab has been transferred from a military hospital to prison again, despite his deteriorating health condition. According to Rajab’s lawyer, he was sent back to prison on Wednesday night. Rajab, who is said to be suffering from heart rhythm disorder, was in an army hospital since Tuesday. He has been in solitary confinement for over two weeks. Rajab is scheduled to stand trial on July 12 for criticizing the Bahraini regime’s prison system and its involvement in the Saudi war on Yemen. Meanwhile, Manama continues its crackdown on the opposition. On Wednesday, the kingdom’s Supreme Court sentenced eight opposition members to jail, also stripping them of their nationality.
