Description

1. “A Human Being” is a short documentary movie about a young French girl in a wheelchair, who overcame her condition and tries to inspire other disabled people to pursue their dreams. She recently produced and starred in a short documentary film that was screened at Tribeca Film Festival. 2. Leopoldine Huyghues-Despontes is a 22-year-old French girl, who was born with a genetic disease that forced her to a wheelchair. Leopoldine or “Lele”- the name, most of her friends call her, moved to New York from Paris four years ago because America is more disability accessible comparing to France. Lele studies business, but her passion is movies. She loves storytelling and thinks that she can make a bigger impact on people telling stories through pictures. She is working on creating her own production company and dreams to become a director. For her latest project, a short fiction movie “Atlantic Avenue,” Lele raised money and starred as a lead actress. The story dives into a complicated romantic relationship between a male-prostitute and a disabled girl, who falls in love and decided to have her first sexual experience with him. The movie was included into Tribeca Film Festival short movies screening list. Lele says, the message she tries to get out there is that disabled people are ‘like anyone else’”- they are human beings with needs and dreams. 4.
