Balamuralikrishna (BMK) is a Carnatic vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, an acclaimed poet and composer. The 81 year old maestro of Carnatic music continues to inspire classical Indian musicians of all ages and is loved across India for his mesmerising voice. His versatility in performing multiple styles of Indian music, his incredible voice and unique way of rendering classical compositions helped establish BKM as a stalwart of the Indian music sector and the most popular living composer of Indian classical music. He has collaborated with the top Hindustani musicians and is known to be the first to start the Jugulbandi (when two Indian musical forms come together) concept when he performed with Pandit Bhimsen Joshi in Mumbai. BMK has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. He is the only Carnatic musician to receive three National India awards (Best Music Composer, the Best Music Director and Best Playback Singer) and the Chevaliers of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government.
