Description

A year ago I saw 2 Seagulls go by, looking back frantically and then a Crow comes after them hawbobbling its way to catch up. then an other one, then a couple other ones.... it was a highway of Crows! and they were going parallel to the actually highway... and they went for 10 mins strait! thousands of them! it was near sunset and sort of cloudy. I used to see them before that when it was cloudy in big groups so I figured it was related, and always had wanted to go film this flyway by the highway. then winter this year people were saying they kept seeing them so I figured in winter they must all roost together. then it was on the news in a good way they told how they just hang out no danger and show how smart they are. that they roost on the far reaches of town. all the crows all the little families and tribes of winged ones dispersed here and there, who make their living around the trees of the city and urban environments, they all come here. it was rainy and still early so not as much as usual but I can't even film well from under the trees, they're all over the trees flying, talking food, deciding who sits where and who knows what else... Anyways was an honor to see them here in this nice little Oak grove surrounded by houses. That this place is here and they choose such an old nice place to hold their winter vigils together. Me and my mom were talking crazy while I was having a deep moment in that old tree's footprint.. so felt it deserved a moment of silence, not sure if it was an other Oak or was it the last Pine tree left of that ancient forest? I think an Oak not sure... There were a dozen or more other Oaks almost as big as that stump still alive. song is improvised on a flute I made out of japanese knotweed.
