Hundreds of thousands of protesters march through Manama to voice their refusal and anger over the proposed Bahraini-Saudi Union Thousands upon thousands from across Bahrain have taken to the streets on Friday, marching along Budaiya highway, located to the west of the capital city of Manama, to voice their dissent against the union plot with the neighboring state of Saudi Arabia. Titled "My Country, Here I am at Your Service" and organized by the Bahraini opposition blocs, the rally has been peaceful with the masses chanting loudly slogans like "No Union without our consent", "We won't sacrifice our sovereignty", "Away with the Government" and the like. Size-wise, the protest has been estimated to be exceeding 300,000 participants, nearing the record-breaking rally of March 9, which Bahrain has never seen before. Wrapped in Bahraini flags and chanting "We don't want to sell our homeland", the protesters wanted to convey a clear message that it's not the will of the monarchy to hand in their homeland to another country whatsoever and that the people should have their say on such a change of sovereignty. Furthermore, protesters waved Bahraini flags symbolizing their independence and carried banners that read phrases stressing their self-determination, their basic universal human rights, and political reforms. All protesters, despite their sects, shared one sentiment that is rejection, and only rejection to any form of political and military unity with any country no matter what it took. Protesters also took advantage of the rally to express their solidarity with Ayatollah Sheik Isa Qasim who had been targeted by the regime with inflammatory references. Ayatollah Qasim has been the safety valve that balanced the rhythm of the public in the country with his moderate discourse. قرابة 300 ألف بحريني يتظاهرون ضد مشروع الاتحاد الثنائي ويؤكدون على السيادة والاستقلال تظاهر قرابة الثلاثمائة ألف مواطن بحريني اليوم الجمعة 18 مايو 2012م على شارع البديع غرب العاصمة المنامة،انطلاقاً من دوار الشاخورة وصولاً إلى دوار الدراز،على مسافة تجاوزت الأربعة كيلو متر ونصف بدعوة من قوى المعارضة واللجان الشبابية والمجتمعية والمناطقية الفاعلة. وأكد المشاركون الذين ينتمون إلى الأطياف والتيارات المختلفة، رفضاً للاتحاد بين البحرين والسعودية الذي اعتبروه تعدياً صارخاً على سيادة واستقلال البحرين،وهو أمر لا يحق لأي احد أياً كان أن يقرر فيه،لكون حق تقرير المصير حصري لشعب البحرين،حسب المواثيق الدولية. وشددت المسيرة على ان الثورة البحرينية الوطنية مستمرة حتى تتحقق المطالب السياسية في التحول الديمقراطي وان شعب البحرين قرر ان لا عودة الى الوراء حتى تتحقق المطالب السياسية. كما رفضت المسيرة التعدي والتهديد والاستهداف للرموز الدينية والسياسية والحقوقية وعلى رأسهم سماحة الشيخ عيسى قاسم ابرز شخصية دينية وسياسية في البحرين.
