The original mix has already been championed by Hernan Cattaneo for several months and shows a much techier direction for Darin than many of his previous productions. The wavering hypnotic elements, unconventional beat patterns and grainy percussion sound super fresh. The whole production is bursting with character and everything melds together for one dynamically momentous and dulcet groove. You could draw comparisons to some of James Holden's older material but ultimately this has a sound all its own and it's turned out to be one of the coolest melodic techno records of the year. Spanish producer Luis Junior has been responsible for some of the biggest crossover genre bombs over the last two years. His critically acclaimed 'BG' and remixes of Cid Inc & Lank's 'Coronal Mass' were two of 2010s biggest records. Luis has since gone on to deliver more similarly large remix productions in 2011 for Monaque and Infusion. He is now one of the most in demand remixers on the planet and makes his debut on Mesmeric with the first interpretation of 'Metamorph'. Luis always seems to reinvent himself to some degree on each production, it's quite remarkable really and he's done it again here. Luis has brought an even more melodic and tripped out approach to 'Metamorph', sonically speaking it's one of his most impressive productions to date. A brilliantly twisted and druggy sounding take on the main theme while still keeping the focus on the dancefloor. It goes without saying that Deepfunk has been one of the hottest producers over the course of 2011. Malcolm Abdilla aka Deepfunk was announced as the winner of the Bedrocks Records / Marco Bailey remix competition earlier this year and has seen many of his productions championed by John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J. Outings on Cid Inc's Replug label and Silence Through Music have raised the Maltese producers profile even further and here he makes his debut for Mesmeric with the final two interpretations of 'Metamorph'. Malcolm's undeniably cool and ultra modern sound is on top form here with his 'Main' mix. His glacial hypnotic lines and a veritable haze of trippy electronics swirl and modulate in perfect unison for the ultimate psychedelic and melodic groove. Also provided is Deepfunk's '5AM' mix which is a gorgeous breakbeat excursion that would be perfect for those sunrise moments. A spectacular package from Mesmeric, likely they're best this year and a great way to close off 2011 for one of the hottest labels of the moment.
