http://www.odalc.org/donate - Ari Fitz, formerly Arielle Patrice Scott, is a filmmaker, model, media personality and recent star on MTV’s “Real World Ex-Plosion”. Named by SF Weekly as “one of the most compelling cast members” to hit the iconic reality series since well… its inception, Ari continues to wow her rapidly growing audience (known affectionately as her MISFITZ) through fashion, film and entertainment. Ari did not begin her career in entertainment, however. After receiving a full scholarship to University of California Berkeley, she immediately began a successful career in “tech” at the young age of 18. A few years later, she sold her first company, GenJuice, and spend the next few years working in the technology-startup space holding director positions in marketing and business development. At 24, a photographer discovered Ari at a local festival and introduced her to a top San Francisco-based modeling agency, where she immediately attracted major clients such as Levi’s, Sprint, Neiman Marcus, Michael Kors and Macy’s. With a lax schedule working as a professional model, Ari finally had the time to pursue a passion she had once avoided due to its lack of practicality: filmmaking, specifically within the horror and thriller genres. In the summer of 2013 and with just $200, Ari wrote, shot, directed and edited her first short film, The Anniversary. This short led to her first festival selection, attention from major artists and fashion companies and her ultimate casting on a reality show. Later that year, Ari jokingly responded to a casting notice for MTV’s The Real World only to become one of the season’s favorite cast members. Interested in finding new creative ways to engage with her growing audience, Ari took to YouTube to give video “shoutouts” and offer additional content to her fans during the show’s airing. However, Ari’s channel began to explode – seeing 500k views in just a few months! Excited by the opportunities to create her own content and tell her own stories, Ari developed a short documentary series for her YouTube channel she appropriately named TOMBOYISH. Ari developed the concept after her most controversial moment on The Real World - defending her own androgyny to her then girlfriend with the world watching. After receiving hundreds of tweets, emails and comments from other young women facing the same issues, Ari knew she had to do more. TOMBOYISH is a short series where Ari visits fashionable androgynous women or those that consider themselves a little “tomboyish”, dives into their closets and blurs the lines between menswear and women’s wear. Today, Ari’s time is divided between modeling, working on her newest short film project and developing unique content for her YouTube channel. Learn more by visiting http://www.arifitz.com/.
