Stay Green, Inc. has invested in 66 pieces of equipment to run solely on propane in 2014. With these mowers, the company has noticed an increase in efficiency as well as worker productivity in the field. Additionally, the propane mowers have eliminated the anticipated downtime associated with gasoline-fueled mowers. While the team used to invest a significant amount of time refueling equipment, today, they simply fill up in the morning and spend the day working. Stay Green, Inc. relies on its local propane provider for regular visits to refill the tanks on the larger mowers. Its employees completed a training program to refill the tanks on their smaller 21-inch mowers, increasing productivity even more. This is because onsite refueling is easy and safe. Not to mention, the risk of fuel spillage or pilferage is eliminated with propane’s closed fuel system. Stay Green is also proud to be reducing its carbon footprint by utilizing propane-powered mowers. That’s because propane cuts carbon monoxide emissions by 40 percent and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent, compared with gasoline-fueled mowers. Overall, Stay Green has found that propane has delivered a “huge” cost savings and productivity boost for their business. Stay Green Inc. took advantage of the PERC Propane Mower Incentive Program, which rewards contractors for reporting performance data for one mowing season.
