Description

At a press conference Monday, Louisiana State Police Col. Mike Edmonson said East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Tullier was targeted and shot while still in his patrol car Sunday morning. The 41-year-old corporal has remained in critical condition at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center since the shooting. East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said he is most concerned about Tullier’s head trauma, telling the media his deputy had been shot in the head and stomach and needs the help of a machine to breathe. But that’s not how Billy Rimes remembers the deputy he met one week ago. Rimes hit a curb during evening rush-hour traffic and slashed his tire. He was struggling to change the flat in the heat and busy traffic when Tullier stopped in his patrol car to help him.
