Description

Mayor Sacco and Mayor Roque attended the first Free Immigration Clinic this past Saturday, March 28th. A spokesman explained that Mayor Sacco was an early supporter of President Obama’s executive order that aids immigrants and their parents. “He has known so many kids that have come through the North Bergen school system that have not been able to attend college and go on with their lives, because they came here as young immigrants with illegal parents.” – Juan Escobar, Spokesperson for Mayor Sacco’s campaign. The Mayor began this initiative 6 weeks ago when he invited immigrants from the North Bergen community to a meeting where they could discuss what rights they have, as well as steps they need to take to become citizens. The Clinic is an opportunity for residents who may not be able to afford citizenship services or those who need help establishing permanent residency. Organizers of this free clinic include the Township of North Bergen, the North Bergen Board of Education, and the new non-profit group We are One New Jersey.
