Freely adapted from Haruki Murakami’s novel “South of the Border, West of the Sun”. Academic work with no commercial purposes. Storyline: Izumi is a lonely girl who meets and falls in love with a boy, Hajime, in elementary school. They spend most of their time listening to her father’s records. There favourite music is Nat King Cole's "South of the Border". Izumi's father is American and her mother Japanese. As they grow up, she loses touch with Hajime when she has to go to the USA. Years later they meet again in Tokyo but they aren’t children anymore. NOTES In this version the girl is half japanese half american and her name is Izumi. In the original novel her name is Shimamoto .
