The protesters gathered in opposition to the alleged involvement of French police in the death of environmental activist Remi Fraisse. Similar demonstrations took place throughout the week in several French cities after the 21-year-old activist died during a protest against the Sivens Dam project on October 26. Around 2,000 people were in attendance at the Sivens Dam protest when clashes with riot police ended in Fraisse being found dead with a large hole in his back.
