Dogs recovering after being dragged by vehicles

By Jozannah Quintanilla News 4 Reporter SAN ANTONIO- Animal Care Services is trying to track down the drivers responsible for dragging two dogs leaving them seriously injured. Pumpkin and Spice can hardly walk after being dragged behind vehicles in two separate incidents. Animal Cares Services Chief Veterinarian Marilyn Gotbeter is treating the dogs. She says they have open wounds and their paws are raw. Lucky for sweet Pumpkin, a Good Samaritan flagged down the driver to stop. ‚“The people came out of the vehicle cut the leash off and drove away and left the dog,‚ Gotbeter said. The drivers responsible have not been found, but ACS will investigate to try and track them down. It's cases like this the county's new animal care unit will take on. The county budgeted to have a felony level prosecutor dedicated to prosecuting animal abuse cases and community outreach. ACS will continue caring for pumpkin and spice until they've recovered.
