Description

Bill Bennett, ASC shot this Lincoln MKZ commercial in Valencia, Spain at the very futuristic Museum of Arts and Sciences. The Director was Andrew Sinagra of Ntropic. We shot a stand-in car, actually a BMW 6-series, with tracking marks on it, with the Arri Alexa Plus, using the lens "metadata" function to record, frame by frame, the Angenieux 17-80mm zoom lens focal length, focus distance, T stop, as well as camera parameters like pitch and roll in degrees, frame rate, shutter angle, etc. This metadata is used, along with the tracking marks on the stand-in car, to enable the CGI artists to create the automobile you see in the spot. After we drove through the shot with the camera car shooting the BMW stand-in, a Mini-Cooper drove through with another camera, fitted with a 4.5mm Sigma fish-eye lens, looking straight up, to record the environmental lighting, which is then reflected back into the CGI automobile.
