Description

LOCAL POWER COMPANY HELPS HURRICANE AFFECTED BERMUDA The Barbados Light and Power Company will be lending assistance to Bermuda as that island tries to restore electricity, following the damage caused to its network due to the passage of Hurricane Gonzalo. Trees were uprooted, power lines downed and homes and structural damage reported across the British overseas territory. Corporate Communications Administrator, Jackie Marshall Clarke says the BL and P crew will be leaving Barbados soon. The B L and P has been participating in such humanitarian efforts since 1988 when it deployed a crew to Jamaica to assist that island following the passage of Gilbert.
