Description

Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player to score in four different European Championships (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016) after netting twice against Hungary on Wednesday. Ronaldo, 31, also overtook Nuno Gomes as scorer of the most Euro goals in Portuguese history (eight) in scoring his 59th and 60th goals for his country. The Real Madrid star flicked home a 50th minute goal from Joao Mario's cross to make the score 2-2 against Hungary and then thumped home a header to make it 3-3. The goals ensured that he pipped Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the record, with the Sweden striker in against Belgium later in the day. His 129th cap versus Hungary also saw him make a record 17th appearance in the European Championship, moving him one ahead of Lilian Thuram (France) and Edwin van der Sar (Netherlands). The forward netted his first senior goal for Portugal back in 2004, in a 2-1 group-stage loss to Greece, while he also scored in the semifinal win over Netherlands.
