Description

Howard University’s WHUR 96.3 FM launched its new Sunday afternoon radio program, The Journey, hosted by President Wayne A.I. Frederick at noon, on Sept. 28. During the weekly 15-minute show, Dr. Frederick will engage guests in discussions about their personal journeys and thoughts on a full range of current issues. Topics will include parenting boys to manhood, encouraging women to embrace leadership, cancer detection, youth mentorship and domestic violence prevention, among others. “If we were to obsess about the journey of life and not focus on any one destination, I think we would live the life we ought to live," says Frederick. In the program’s first episode, guest Dr. LaSalle Leffall, Jr., will share his thoughts on mentorship and leadership, as well as his own personal and professional path. A surgeon, oncologist and medical educator, Dr. Leffall is Howard University College of Medicine’s Charles R. Drew professor of Surgery, and a leader in professional and civic organizations.
