Description

If you are Dominican or like the Merengue music from the 80's and 90's. I can tell you that you lived "Golden Years" of our music. As a member of the family of musicians and singers who took the time with Orchestra of July Mateo "Rasputin", every day I'm more proud of it. On one of my trips to NY in '89 right on 66th Street and Broadway in Manhattan, was a huge record store that but then I took me and many others to know the variety of the world's music. That store was TOWER RECORDS. There I just listen to a CD from an artist that I was like an awakening to me, not only for his unique style of singing, but by their curiosity to dig into the musical genres of the Caribbean and the Americas. This artist called David Byrne and the album is called "Rei Momo" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rei_Momo. http://www.allmusic.com/album/rei-momo-mw0000653991/credits This production was a tribute to the music of the Americas. But what most caught my attention was his interest in recording and disseminating our merengue and not only that, get involved with the history of our music and musicians between silly musical diversity in the world to dedicate a space to business that really motivated me to buy the disk and read more about this artist, which today is part of my collection and personal taste. To my surprise when I uncover and read the credits, fill me even more taste and thrill of seeing names of important musicians of our country like, Ite Jerez trumpeter, Johnny Pacheco, Luis "Robertico" Arias, Leini Guerrero, Luis Manuel, Juan Martinez, Agapito Pascual, Santiago Pascual. Like to see others from Puerto Rico, Hector Rosado, Milton Cardona, Bobby Allende, Willy Colon, Andy Gonzalez, Jose Mangual, Bobby Porcelli, Charlie James, Charlie Sepulveda, Cuto Soto among others ... Since then in 1992, a few years later when I becomed part of the prestigious orchestras of Los Hermanos Rosario. There I had the opportunity to travel to various destinations in the world and in one of these Madrid Spain ... And another record shop I found something unique and was the production of the same album but live and on LaserDisc video which is titled "Between The Teeth". I woke up this other version even more passion for the music of David Byrne. Perhaps some of you have already seen it but I also know that many do not yet, as might be the case ... As for these here I bring to Merengue 80's and 90's, one of the themes of production "Rei Momo "David Byrne called" Lie To Me " In this video you will see: David Byrne: Vocal Jonathan Best: Piano & Keys George Porter, Jr. Bass Steve Sacks: Tenor Sax Ite Jerez: Trumpet Lewis Kahn: Trombone Angel Fernandez: Trumpet and Guira Hector Rosado: Tambora Bobby Allende Congas More about Dadid Byrne: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/david-byrne-mn0000197364
