Description

Script: Rio LGBT Pride Parade in Copacabana was a huge success last Sunday, 17th November, 2014. Marching along Copacabana beach, a million people gathered together to celebrate sexual diversity and to fight for the criminalization of homophobia and transphobia. Gender dictatorship was also on the agenda. Men in skirts sent out a message against it. Rainbow Group, the Parade organizer, along with the Special Coordination for Sexual Diversity from the City Hall and Rio Without Homophobia Program from the State of Rio de Janeiro, joined forces to make it happen and the result was a huge event with a million people out and proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity. Rio celebrated its first Pride Parade in 1995 and it’s the second biggest celebration of its kind in Brazil, behind São Paulo, which held its first parade two years after Rio. Rio LGBT Pride Parade is the third biggest event of the city every year, losing to Rio’s Carnival and Rio’s New Year’s Eve celebration in Copacabana. How would we not be proud? Consider joining us during Rio LGBT Pride Parade next year. This is Sergio Viula, sending loads of love all the way from Rio, Brazil.
