Unfortunately, the distraction that I have created has made that impossible, so today I'm announcing my resignation from Congress. After avoiding the spotlight, the former representative is getting back into politics. In a video message released Wednesday, the 48-year-old said he is running for New York City Mayor. His wife Huma Abedin, who is an aide to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, appears in the campaign video. A recent poll found Weiner in second place in the Democratic primary race to replace Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
