Description

Football fans from Wales and Portugal congregated in designated "fanzones" on Wednesday ahead of the teams' European Championship semi-final in Lyon. Supporters gathered in Cardiff and Lisbon, as well as the southern French city, ahead of a match that could see Wales become the first British nation to reach a major final since England's World Cup victory in 1966. Their hopes may have increased after Portugal announced they will be without key central defender Pepe after he failed to recover from a thigh muscle injury. Wales manager Chris Coleman has entrusted the midfield spot left vacant by the suspended Aaron Ramsey to Andy King, who recently won the English Premier League with Leicester City. There are no surprises up front for either side, where Real Madrid team mates Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are ready to square off.
