Description

Single ventricle malformations are a group of congenital heart defects in which one of the heart pumping chambers (ventricles) develops improperly and cannot effectively circulate blood. Babies born with single ventricle malformations have a difficult time getting blood to different areas of the body. Experts from the Cardiac Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia explain the anatomy and physiology of a normal heart vs. a heart with single ventricle.
