This video is intended to introduce Trilobite's evolution engine as a means of creating new patches through Darwinian Evolution. Trilobite provides an intuitive user interface for automated creativity, and is an excellent means of expanding on your own designs in completely unexpected ways. In this video, we'll cover * Creating an empty evolution (population) project * Breeding parameters and controls * Seeding the population with a human-designed patch * Setting patch fitness level * Some general concepts * Breeding a new population of patches from a single seed patch Make sure to continue to Part 2 for a completion of this tutorial! In this video, the standalone version of Trilobite 0.9.3 is used on a Macbook Air. My apologies to those who have waited a very long time for this video. Since promising it, I've taken on a daytime contract which has used very nearly _all_ of my creative energy, so this video is literally six months in the making. While my intent was to make this video a single 15min presentation, I instead opted for the "Hunger Games"-style four episode trilogy rather than leave anything out.
