About The Role

Frequency seeks a Junior UX/UI Designer to join our growing Product Design team, which develops and enhances the Frequency Studio product suite. As a Junior UX/UI Designer, you will apply design thinking principles to create intuitive interfaces that directly solve our customers' needs. We seek a motivated designer who thinks deeply about problems, embraces complexity, and prioritizes usability.

This role is a remote position; however, we are looking for someone in Los Angeles who is available to meet in person with team members and stakeholders for work/brainstorming sessions. This role would report directly to the Head of Design.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design experiences that solve complex interactions with elegance and simplicity
  • Utilize user-centered design approaches to define the customer problem/opportunity with cross-functional teams
  • Produce concepts, wireframes, and prototypes through facilitation and hands-on work.
  • Create UX and UI deliverables for development handoff and collaborate with the product team to ensure design quality in the final product
  • Promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards
  • Stay current with emerging industry trends and the competitive landscape to provide insight on improving design, usability and functionality, and holistic experiences
  • Leverage and contribute to the existing design system, in some cases crafting everything from component-level pixels to documentation for implementation and widespread usage
  • Maintain existing UX/UI style guides

Basic Qualifications
  • A Junior UX/UI or Product Designer with an impeccable eye for detail
  • Has experience designing B2B or B2C products
  • A talented problem-solver who finds creative and smart solutions to complex problems
  • The ability to work collaboratively with small groups as well as individually
  • Are passionate and positive, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • The willingness to grow through guidance, critique, collaboration, and co-authorship
  • Has experience designing projects with a variety of stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years as a UX/UI designer in the B2B or B2C space with experience shipping SaaS applications
  • A current portfolio that demonstrates the ability to tell a concise and compelling story that articulates the thought process behind your design solutions and illustrates your design style
  • Has an understanding of UX/UI fundamentals and best practices (research, prototyping, validation) as well as visual design (typography, information design, color, and layout)
  • Experience creating UX artifacts for large complex systems (e.g., IA, wireframes, journey maps, etc.)
  • Has worked closely with software development teams; agile experience is preferred
  • Experience defining, working within, and expanding upon design systems
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working independently as an individual contributor and on a team
  • Fluency in design software (Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, or similar tools)
  • Positive attitude, proactive and helpful
