Description
Read More: http://www.1065.com/pages/carolinarebellion.html For 2012, Carolina Rebellion moved out of Charlotte and set up shop in Rockingham, North Carolina. At the racetrack appropriately nicknamed The Rock, thousands of fans experienced over 12 hours of blistering, loud, face melting rock n' roll. Shinedown closed the show with a crowd-pleasing set, but Korn fans will be the ones that remember this show. Founding member of the band, guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, joined Korn on stage for the first time since 2005. Head is currently touring with his new band, Love and Death. Carolina Rebellion featured two of the best female fronted bands in rock n' roll. Halestorm and Evanescence, featuring Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee respectively, both brought plenty of girl power to the festival. Veterans like Staind, Chevelle, and P.O.D. busted out old favorites while mixing in new songs. Slash, with Alter Bridge front-man Myles Kennedy on vocals, played stuff from his solo albums, but ignited the crowd with Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City from Guns N' Roses and Slither from Velvet Revolver (begging the question, why doesn't Kennedy replaced the departed Scott Weiland as the front-man for Velvet Revolver?). Carolina Rebellion also continued the ascension of Five Finger Death Punch. Their debut album, The Way of the Fist, was released less than five years ago and now they headline arenas and are continuing to move up the bill on festivals. Adelitas Way front-man Rick DeJesus ended their set with some crowd surfing. Charlotte based, Paper Tongues performed a great set and are recording a new album. Volbeat, Weaving the Fate, Red, Ghosts of August, New Medicine, and Redlight King rounded out the day's lineup. Fans that were left scorned after last year's traffic and line nightmares were greeted with less traffic arriving at the show and plenty of food vendors. Free water was available as was shade tents. Law enforcement and security did a phenomenal job keeping things under control. Exiting the event proved to be difficult for many, but overall, the fan experience was infinitely better at Carolina Rebellion 2012.
