Photography and editing - Uri Rosenberg Music - Ensemble "TBILISI" Two genera of water insects are shown in this video: BACKSWIMMERS (Notonectidae) and WATER STRIDERS (Gerridae). Both belong to the order Hemiptera (bugs). Backswimmers swim on their back, upside down. Water striders walk on the water, using the water surface tension. As you can see, they capture small air bubbles by their legs that help them to keep floating.
