Description

The now 73 year old Man of steel, the protector of "Truth, justice and the American way," is aging well. First published in comic strip form in 1938, the superhero brainchild of Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster enjoyed a rebirth 50 years later with the production of the blockbuster movie, Superman. The American composer and conductor John Williams who wrote the music is just about as famous as the caped hero, for being one the most prolific composers of film scores in the history of motion pictures. A short list of some of his works includes Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schindler's List and Harry Potter. The Superman/Lois Lane song Can you read my mind provides the romantic link for tonight's themed program. Performed by the Stony Brook Wind Ensemble on November 16th, 2011 at the Staller Center at Stony Brook University
