Description
Ever shake your head at a sad social situation and ask yourself "What can I do to fix this?" After Chuks Onwuneme launches PersonifyIt, you'll have an answer. PersonifyIt of Seattle, Washington, will use mobile technology and the web to link together those people around the world who are passionate about doing social good and turn their passion into action. "I saw people who wanted to do good things but had no idea how to accomplish it. I thought, 'How do I solve that problem?'." Going from being with Nokia (his former employer) to a startup hasn't been easy. "You are used to the support and resources of this giant company and then you go to having to make very specific decisions all on your own. But I've overcome that!" Chuks schools those leaving the corporate world. But he has found new resources in other startup people in the Seattle area. "I moved to Seattle because there was a greater density of people like me, people to bounce ideas off." What has been Chuks' inspiration so far? "That kid out there who truly wants to make a difference and goes out of his way to figure out what he needs to do to get to where he wants to be, because that really is the story of my life. When I see these kids I get really inspired."
