That ideation is the driving force behind this project: Solitary. We are 18 students of the Vancouver Film School with a cohesive vision: Making the best films possible. We are putting together a short-film anthology including 5 films: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------­------- Away: Alecksy is a young man who has been struggling with schizophrenia for many years. His family is struggling to find a cure. They decide to participate in a breakthrough medical experiement. As Alecksy takes a yellow, blue, and red pill, he sees his friend Eric, his sister and parents, and himself for who they really are. At the end of the show, Alecksy decides to stick to his own reality, instead of waking up to the world around him. Funnytown: FunnyTown takes place in a world populated entirely by clowns. Laughter and comedy are of the highest value and only those who are funny thrive. The story centers on a clown called Bizmo who begins to realize that there is more to life than comedy and that he has only been hiding his real emotions with laughter. Once Upon A Time In the Brothel Of Historical Materialism: A German Jewish Intellectual running away from Europe during World War two is hiding in a small town in Spain, after crossing the border with other fugitives. A Nazi and his ally, a Soviet spy, are appointed with the task of finding him. They will have to take him back to Nazi Germany not knowing they'll become riveted by his utterances. Another Day: After being set up and scammed by a mischievous man; Zack, an international student in his 20´s has lost all the money he had, now finds himself in a huge economic crisis. With no home to call his own and stealing food to eat, Zack gets himself a job as a "hit man". After meeting his contractor and taking on a few less than ordinary tasks, Zack is faced with a more serious assignment. A life is in hands and he has to make the choice: Give up, or live for another day. Caliber: Caliber is the story of Rodrigo, a retired Israeli hit man, who left his country to start a new life. Enter Trent Carmichael, a shrewd businessman in charge of several illegal enterprises. He sees the potential for a profitable partnership between the two - he's just got to convince Rodrigo to pick up the sword once more. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------­------- Solitary: These projects all closely Share the theme of being Solitary. Each film features a crucial character that feels either put aside by, or alienated by his or her reality. We believe that everyone, in some way, has felt this before. We feel that this topic is something that can be achieved in many creative and distinctive ways. All 18 of us feel very strongly and a creatively involved in these projects. We would love to make this project known.
