She 50-year-old nine-time Grammy-winning rock musician, mother of two sons and breast cancer survivor of made her comments to The Las Vegas Review-Journalfor an article posted on Tuesday, June 5. She said doctors discovered her ailment in November. "I worried about my memory so much that I went and got an MRI," she said. "And I found out I have a brain tumor. And I was, like, 'See? I knew there was something wrong. I haven't really talked about it. But it's benign, so I don't have to worry about it. But it gives me a fit." In May, the singer forgot part of the lyrics to her song "Soak Up The Sun" while performing in St. Petersburg, Florida, as seen in this fan-made YouTube video. "I'm 50, what can I say? My brain has gone to (expletive)," she said. Crow, who was in Las Vegas to perform at a Tag Heuer watch party in Mix restaurant-lounge, told The Las Vegas Review-Journal that she has a "history" of forgetting her own lyrics. The singer's rep told E! News that Crow is "has no symptoms and everything is fine," adding: "It was a random mention during the interview. It was not meant to alarm anyone. She is doing great and is healthy and happy." Crow's condition is also called a meningioma, or a meningeal tumor, which grows and forms slowly in the thin layers of tissue that cover and protect the brain. It is most common among female adults. Crow has not revealed how doctors plan to treat her tumor. They are usually removed through surgery, sometimes coupled with radiation therapy. Crow is meanwhile continuing a planned U.S. tour - she is set to perform in Enterprise, Alabama on June 16 and play gigs in Illinois, North Carolina and California through July. She also told the newspaper that she is working on a new album. In February 2006, Crow diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. She said on the CNN show "Larry King Live" in August of that year that she was cancer-free and had undergone a lumpectomy and a needle biopsy. A year later, she revealed that she had changed her diet to include organic, sustainable foods, and "cancer-fighting spices." She released a cookbook, "If It Makes You healthy," which was co-authored with chef Chuck White.
