It's Finally Here Folks, My Saves of The Year Compilation, So Crank up The Volume and Enjoy! The 2011-12 NHL Regular Season Kicked off on October 6th in Toronto and Finished on April 7th in San Jose and Lots of Mile Stones and Records Were Set in Between. Heres a Quick Recap. On October 20th, Jonathan Quick Recorded His 100th Career NHL Win, Making 28 Saves For The 2-0 Victory Over The Phoenix Coyotes. 6 Days Later on October 26th, Carey Price Got His 100th Career NHL Win, Making 21 Saves For The 5-1 Victory Over The Philadelphia Flyers. Then on December 26th, Cam Ward Scored His First Career NHL Goal and Become Only The 10th Goalie in NHL History To Be Credited With a Goal. Then on January 14th, Evgeni Nabokov Recorded His 300th Career Victory, Making 23 Saves For The 4-2 Win Over The Buffalo Sabres. Then on February 8th, Miikka Kiprusoff Recorded His 300th Career NHL Victory, Making 34 Saves For The 4-3 Win Against The Team That He Started His Career With, The San Jose Sharks. Then on February 28th, Henrik Lundqvist Recorded His 30th Victory of The Season, Becoming The Only Goalie in NHL History To Record 7 Consecutive 30 Win Seasons To Begin Their Career. Then on April 3rd Mike Smith Set The NHL Season High For Saves, Making 54 Saves For The 2-0 Shutout Over The Columbus, in a Most Win Game For Playoff Positioning. But There Were a Lot of Shutout Streaks This Season, The First one Was By Jonathan Quick. Quick Put up 3 Straight Shutouts From October 18th - October 22nd Against St. Louis, Phoenix and Dallas. Then Ilya Bryzgalov Did it. The Bryz Put up 3 Straight Shutouts From March 8th - March 13rd Against Florida, Toronto and New Jersey. Then Brian Elliott Put up a Streak as Well. Elliott Posted 3 Straight Shutouts From March 22nd - March 27th Against Los Angeles, Phoenix and Nashville. Then Mike Smith Finished off The Year With a 3 Games Shutout Streak From March 29th - April 3rd Making 38 Saves Against San Jose, 44 Against Anaheim and 54 Against Columbus, Now Thats a Streak! In My Opinion The Top 5 Goaltenders in The League This Season Were in Order From 1-5, Jonathan Quick, Mike Smith, Henrik Lundqvist, Pekka Rinne and Finally Marc Andre Fleury, All Fantastic Goalies and All Deserving of The Vezina Trophy. For The Best Goaltender That Emerged into The Number 1 Role, its Gotta Be Mike Smith, Hands Down. Mike's Previous High in Game Played Was 42, This Year He Started 67, Won 38, Posted 8 Shutouts. Mike Was Really The Only Reason Phoenix Even Made The Playoffs and Was Far Better Than When Ilya Bryzgalov Was in The Desert. Smitty Has Really Shown What He is Capable of This Season and Given Phoenix Some Stability on The Back End For Years To Come. Now Come Back Goalie of The Year, Brian Elliott, Need I Say Anymore. Nobody Wanted Him in Ottawa Last Season, They Couldn't of Gotten Rid of Him Fast Enough in Colorado. He Signed a $900,000 2 Way Contract With St. Louis in July and Was Absolutely Fantastic With St. Louis This Season From Start To Finish and Has Caused a Serious Goaltending Controversy For The Blues Come Playoff Time This Year. Here are The League Leaders in All Major Goaltender Categories at The End of The Season......
