Jackson Joins 'Robocop' Reboot Cast and we have the story! Accroding to the hollywood reporter, Samuel L. Jackson is joining the cast of Robocop, MGM and Sony's remake of the classic 1987 sci-fi action movie. Jackson will place Pat Novak, the mega mogul in the Robocop universe. Jose Padilha is at the helm the film, with Joel Kinnaman as the lead character, a cop named Alex Murphy who is turned into a cyborg police officer after escaping death. Gary Oldman is on board as robocops scientist-creator. The flick is set to start shooting in Toronto this September and is tentatively scheduled to release next summer.
