Description
Rio+20 (20/06/2012) –Rose Mensah-Kutin, Director of Abantu for Development talks about the role of women in climate change and sustainable development. She says her organisation has been working for a long time on gender and climate change in Ghana and West Africa and through partnerships, networks and coalitions they have been engaging with climate change and sustainable development in the international arena. She says while the conference is challenge – and huge gaps still exist in the commitments from 30 years ago – they hope that by the end of the conference there will be a recommitment to the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality which has already been recognised under UN groups and in many of the countries across Africa.
