Jeff Santos speaks with Congressman Danny Davis (D-IL) during a visit to Washington D.C. and special broadcast of Rebuild America From the Monitor studios on July 11, 2012. Congressman Davis, who represents the 7th District of Illinois which includes Chicago, talks about growing up in Arkansas where his parents had to pay a "Poll Tax" of $2 in order to vote. The average daily wage at that time was $3-4 dollars for a day's work on the farm. Representative Davis says that the Voter ID laws that are being passed throughout the country now are creating an even worse burden on voters than the "Poll Tax" of his youth.
