Description
Rathcroghan is an Iron Age Royal Site in Co. Roscommon, Ireland. It is the capital of the provence of Connacht and the Mythical home of Queen Meave. It is at Rathcroghan the the Cattle Raid of Cooley (An Táin) began. Archaeological excavation by a team from NUI Galway lead by John Waddell have shown that Rathcroghan mound was a temple site with a series of wodden henges around the temple.
